HA intern Brooklynn Loiselle shared what a fashionable four-person band named after an insect (maybe you’ve heard of them) makes her think of:
Growing up, my dad always listened to The Beatles. There are countless videos of us dancing around the living room to The Beatles and bobbing our heads like John, Paul, George and Ringo. When I went to college, I spent a lot of time listening to the band when I missed home, because it would make me think of long drives or dance parties with my dad.
Fast forward to my sophomore year of college when my sorority wanted us to find a song that would define our experience within the chapter. Many women submitted songs, and one day, it was time for the big reveal. As I heard these familiar strums of the guitar, I had an instant grin.
All of us learned the words. My friends began to sing the song around campus, and it became a frequent favorite for all of us while studying.
Now, when I hear this song, I have nostalgia not only for my childhood but also for the incredible memories and friendships that I made at the University of Oregon. I felt that it was fitting to share this song in particular as this weekend I will be moving out of my college home. I am sure this song will be on repeat.
I have a feeling that this song — and the Beatles — will continue to follow me in life, and I cannot wait to see where they pop up next.
