2pac - Changes

By Shereen Masoud-Jointe, Account Executive (Europe)

From hearing a song for the first time in an H&M store, to interviewing a favorite musician at a Swiss music festival, to returning to childhood classics — this week, our colleagues took us back with their song selections.

36.   Love Will Come Through — Travis

37.   Changes — 2Pac

38.   Once You — Xu Wei (曾经的你— 许巍)

39.   Diamonds — Ben Howard

40.   Have It All — Jason Mraz

Washington-based senior account executive Haley Dowell shared why she chose 2Pac’s “Changes”:

“Tupac was one of the greatest lyricists of all time. He brought a voice to the Black community by speaking on his own experiences and observations of how Black people are treated.

In this song, he speaks out against issues that stem from systemic racism, including police brutality, poverty and the war on drugs. This song has stuck with me since I first listened to it as a kid, and the rest of his music resonates with me as well.

On another note — for my fifth grade piano recital, I told my teacher I was going to perform songs only I liked. Those songs included this one, “We Belong Together” by Mariah Carey and “I Won’t Say I’m In Love” from the Disney movie “Hercules.” Definitely an interesting selection.”
